Peace continues to evade the powers that be in South Sudan, and as unrest rises so does demand for the farm's fresh vegetables. The team is working hard to meet that demand whilst looking for an alternate location that will be more favorable to their work and growth. Nothing yet, but the team is hopeful. Keep praying!

The team continues to focus on increasing production, even faced with C-19 disturbances and rumors of war and other civil unrest. Crime has increased on the roads while demand for vegetables, maize in particular, increase as people fear hunger and starvation during war. With the heavy rains and flooding, growth in several different vegetables has slowed, stalling production. They've built a housing around the pump to help protect it against inclement weather.

The farm is doing well this month, with the usual problems being dealt with accordingly. The fence adjustments around the landlord's home site are commencing well, and the cattle issue has diminished with police presence. The Nile has flooded to the maximum but the short line keeps up irrigation just fine. Good work, team, handling all the farm's challenges.

The team is doubling efforts to look for new land to grow on due to some difficulties with their current location. They're hoping to find somewhere they can be a bit more permanent, but the culture makes it hard. Additionally, the team has been coming down with malaria in turn. We are keeping their health and recovery in our prayers.

Rainy season is upon South Sudan, and despite the Nile flooding to the maximum, the irrigation system is running with no issues. The planting and the machinery are all working well and causing no trouble. The farm is still working and though COVID-19 cases are over 1000, South Sudan has not yet been crippled by the virus. Some of our team had to deal with dangers outside the farmthough, when one house was robbed in the night at gunpoint. Prayers for safety

The government is currently on lockdown due to COVID-19, and many non-food business are closed, but agriculture is the exception so the team is thankful that they are still able to work. They have also begun adjusting the fence around the landlord's new home site. On a happier note, one of the team welcomed a new baby boy into his family!

It's quiet on the farm this month, all equipment functioning and fields planted, with the exception of a puncture in the red tractor's tire. The team is staying safe from COVID-19, and as far as they know, South Sudan has had little or no cases of the virus. A storm of locusts flew over South Sudan this month, and the team is wary of another coming down from Juba.

The farm faces more frustrations this year as the landlord breached their contract. He decided he wanted to build his home inside the farm to take advantage of all the improvements we have put in place. The team must now install an additional 350 meters of fence around the new residence to protect the farm activities. Field development continues and dry season has taken hold with a return to high temperatures every day.

As the new year dawned, the farm experienced more difficulty with its neighbors. A parade required the local the police to be away from their regular duties. Local cattle keepers knew this, and took the opportunity to cut through the farm fence and drive their cattle into the farm to graze. The team tried to send them away, but the cattle keepers attacked them for shooing the animals out of the fields. The team sustained injuries but were able to push the them back. The case has been taken to the police, but we're unsure if anything will come of it. Though a little discouraged, the team is healing and will be okay.
